Who are you most excited for this week?

TUESDAY, August 30 :: William Elliott Whitmore

This Tuesday, William Elliott Whitmore takes the stage in the New Mountain Theater, bringing his "roots folk music" to downtown Asheville, alongside Josiah and the Bonnevilles.

Known for the sparse, haunting qualities of the mostly solo recordings he refers to as "roots-folk music," in which his voice is often accompanied by little more than a banjo or acoustic guitar, William Elliott Whitmore began writing songs last year with some changes in mind.

"I purposefully went into it wanting to make a little bit of a departure, sonically, using an electric guitar a little bit more and adding more instrumentation, more full-band type stuff," he says.

Opening the show is Josiah and the Bonnevilles.

Renown for being the winner of the eighth season of NBC’s Emmy Award®-winningThe Voice, Sawyer Fredericks takes the stage at New Mountain AVL this Friday.

As part of “Team Pharrell,” Fredericks emerged as the “youngest victor in the show’s history” at just 16-years-old. Moreover, he made Voice history, becoming “the first artist to land 14 songs in the iTunes Overall Top 200 Songs Chart in one week.”

“I learned so much,” he says. “It was incredible to be around that many artists and see so much talent. I took it all in. Getting to perform on that stage was amazing. I also remember Pharrell gave me a piece of advice that I’ll never forget. He said, ‘Stay true to yourself.’”

And the winner is...
